1st National Symposium on the Iraq Conflict

The Military Veterans Museum, in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh will be holding what is believed to be the first history symposium on the Iraq Conflict. It will be held on Nov. 10th 2012 on the UWO campus and is free of charge (lunch is free but requires advance reservations). Details are still being worked on but the symposium is scheduled to include at least 8 panel discussions with veterans, politicians, press representatives and others and will discuss a wide range of topics. The Iraq War Symposium is over with and it ws a qualified success. The goal ws to attract 175 attendees and we did accomplish that and more. However we were hoping to get more participants from other than here in Oshkosh, WI but very few came from other than our immediate area and even fewer from out of state locations. Even so with the help of the Univ. of WI - Oshkosh's history department the Military Veterans Musesum did accomplish a chief goal for the year and can now build on this first major effort to meet one of its primary functions - education in military history. What's next? There are several projects being considered, development of a curriculum on American military history and veterans for k-12 grade levels and a lecture series on various military history topics for high school and or college level participants. Anyone with ideas are welcomed to share them with us.
